Crown Registered Mortising Chisel, 1/4 in. is a precision tool designed for accurate mortising work. This 1/4″ wide (6mm) chisel features an extra-thick blade with flat ground sides that help it register perfectly against the mortise sides, ensuring precise guidance while resisting the heavy blows needed to chop out joints. The blade is traditionally hot forged from fine carbon steel, providing durability and strength. A leather shock washer is fitted between the tang and the tough ash handle, which measures just over 5-1/2″ long, to reduce vibrations during use. Steel reinforcing hoops at both the top and bottom of the handle add extra durability. The overall length of the chisel is approximately 11-3/4″. For best results, honing is recommended before use.
